Mexico Floating LNG Terminal Gives New Avenue for US Exports
With rapidly growing demand for natural gas and limited pipeline capacity, a new export terminal in Mexico is opening up new opportunities for US exporters.
Mexico has been ramping up its imports of natural gas in recent years to meet growing demand from power plants and industrial users. However, existing pipeline capacity from the United States to Mexico is limited, constraining the ability of US exporters to fully capitalize on this growing market.
The new floating liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal, located in the Gulf of Mexico off the coast of Veracruz, will provide a new avenue for US exports to reach Mexico. The terminal is expected to come online in 2023 and will have the capacity to process and export up to 5 million metric tons of LNG per year.
The development of the Mexico floating LNG terminal is a major step forward for US exporters of natural gas. The terminal will provide a new and flexible way to transport US gas to Mexico, helping to meet growing demand and support economic growth in both countries.
